Castle Rock |
Two of the most prominent features of the area were Abalone Mountain and
Castle Rock. Castle Rock was just across the highway from the camp entrance.
During the time before the camp became a segregation facility, internees were
able to hike to the top of Castle Rock.

Cross at the top of Castle Rock |
During the war, Christian internees placed a white wooden cross at the top of
Castle rock. After the camp was closed, the cross eventually fell down. The
residents of the community erected the metal cross that you see in these
pictures. There are plaques at the base of the cross telling about its
dedication.
